UAE- Duo ignores warning at beach drowns

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Two Asians drowned off the Ajman beach on Saturday. The duo reportedly ignored red flags at the beach warning of rough seas and went for a swim.

According to Colonel Rashid Al Zarri Director of Media and Public Relations of Ajman Civil Defence in a separate case on the same day three Arab nationals were rescued from drowning. "The marine team of the civil defence dispatched rescue teams after being informed of the incidents. Unfortunately the two Asian drowned."

The three Arab nationals are recuperating in a stable state at the Khalifa Hospital.

Colonel Al Zarri noted that beach goers were warned against swimming in the beach due to the turbulent weather and rough sea. The swimmers however ignored the warning and went to swim. The high tides took them deep into the sea.

"Beach goers should never risk venturing their lives and swim in days where red and black flags are placed on the sea as its totally unsafe to swim on these particular days and they should wear the life jackets and should never swim in prohibited swimming areas that has clear warning signboards placed. Many swimmer go swimming at late hours of the night which is totally wrong and can endanger their lives as visibility is very low and they can be easily drifted from the sea shore."
