ABU DHABI 20th April 2016 (WAM) -- This week the world's largest man-made safari park is opening in Al Ain allowing people to see more than 250 animals in their natural habitats including Arabian oryx and sand cat said a UAE daily.

This unique experience is an addition to Al Ain Zoo which was described last year by the president of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums Lee Ehmke as "a model for not just zoos in the Middle East but around the world".

"The zoo has been working on protecting and conserving species and educating the public on environmental sustainability and how individuals can help the cause of conservation" said The National in an editorial today.

The newly opened Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre for example helps visitors learn about and explore the natural and cultural history of Abu Dhabi's desert environment as well as Arabian deserts and those worldwide.

"This is all so important to foster emerging sensibilities about sustainability that will preserve our flora and fauna for future generations" concluded the Abu Dhabi-based daily.
