LG, Intel joint effort in 5G networks sees light

(MENAFN) Falling under its ongoing efforts to advance its vehicle component business, LG Electronics Inc. intends to team up with Intel to integrate fifth-generation (5G) network technology to automobiles.

Intel, the world's largest and highest valued semiconductor chip makers, and LG will apply the 5G network to the so-called telematics technology, which aims to offer traffic info to vehicles over mobile communication.

In more detail, telematics technology allows cars and pedestrians to connect without a delay, thus reducing the number of accidents, plus the system can also be useful in tracking stolen cars or long-distance maintenance.

Additionally, the 5G technology can considerably develop the communications environment of cars as it is 33 times faster than the current long-term evolution (LTE)-based network, while reducing the data-response time by 90pct.
