Russia, Iran eliminate obstacles on USD5b loan

(MENAFN) Russia and Iran have eliminated all legal barriers in granting the Islamic Republic a USD5 billion state loan, according to the latest reports.

In accordance, initial arrangements on the state loan to Iran were reached during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Tehran in November 2015.

Russia intends to divide the loan into two parts and the first USD2.2 billion will be awarded this year for electrification projects for Iran's railway systems.

Conflicts in the inter-governmental loan have been removed, clean texts are being prepared, and Russia will sign them as soon as the decision is made by the authorities.
