(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors)Apple made it onto the gold pages today as the iPhone maker said it had said recovered more than a ton of gold from recycled phones computers and iPads in the previous year. Used because it does not corrode and is a very good conductor the value of the gold totted up to US$28mln not that Apple really needs the cash with cash plus other marketable securities of assets of about US$215bn at the last count. Otherwise gold marked time as the oil price tumbled after the non-event that was OPEC's Doha meeting at the weekend. Stratex in demand Stratex International PLC's (LON:STI) shares climbed as it said the Altintepe gold mine in Turkey is on course to hit its production target of at least 30000 ounces this year. Sales to March 16 totalled 12280 ounce of gold with US$14.3mln of revenues generated. Altintepe a joint venture (45%/55%) between Stratex and Turkish firm Bahar poured its first gold at the end of 2015. Bob Foster Stratex's chief executive said: "Altıntepe has seen a significant increase in gold production in the first 2.5 months of the year and is on target to deliver the minimum expected annual production of 30000 oz gold during 2016.
