Kerry set for separate talks with Iran's FM, Egyptian and GCC leaders


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON April 18 (KUNA) -- US State Secretary John Kerry is expected to meet Iran's foreign minister in New York on Tuesday before he heads to Egypt on Wednesday and joins the US president for GCC talks in Saudi Arabia on Thursday.

His talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will discuss the implementation of the nuclear deal also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) signed in mid-2015 a State Department statement said on Monday.

The meeting will also follow up on earlier conversations regarding regional issues including reaching a political resolution to the Syria crisis.

Later on April 20 Secretary Kerry will meet with Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi and Foreign Minister Sameh Shukry in Cairo to discuss a range of bilateral and regional issues.

On April 21 he will join President Obama in Riyadh at the Gulf Cooperation Council Summit. (end) sd.bs
