Tent Pegging World Cup: Oman bags team bronze

Last edition's overall runner-up Oman added its second medal at the second Tent Pegging World Cup in Cairo Egypt on Saturday when its riders won a bronze medal in the team event.

The bronze followed Safwan al Ma'amari's silver in the lance and peg individual competition on Friday.

The national team won the bronze in the sword and peg event to climb to the fourth place (503 points) in the overall standings among a field of 11 nations with a day remaining in the competition.

Hosts Egypt lead the overall standings with 560 points and is followed by defending champion South Africa with 559.5. Iraq is third with 506.5.

The medal-winning Omani quartet comprised Hilal al Balushi Ma'amari Hamad al Riyami and Ali al Balushi.

The Indian team won the gold while Egypt claimed the silver medal.

Later Mohammed al Fairuz the president of the International Tent Pegging Federation (ITPF) gave away the awards to the winners.
