Kuwait- Prices of 400 medicines to be reduced starting today

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The prices of 400 medicines will be reduced starting from Sunday in line with the decision of the Gulf Committee for Determining Prices of Medicines in the Executive Office of the Health Ministers Council of the Gulf Countries Council (GCC), reports Al-Shahed daily quoting sources.

Sources explained the aim of the committee is to standardize the prices of medicines in Gulf countries; indicating the price reduction ranges from 10 percent to 60 percent for medicines like those used for treating allergies, diabetes and blood pressure, as well as anti-inflammation, antiseptics, eye drops and fat reduction.

The allowance of Kuwait Municipality directors and supervisors for one month - a total of KD 21,600 - is now in the hands of Municipality Director General Eng Ahmad Al- Manfouhi who will either approve or reject it, reports Al-Rai daily.

A source from the Municipality pointed out that suspending payment of the allowance is not an easy task, especially since the concerned employees have been receiving the allowance for years so such a decision is expected to be widely opposed.

The source confirmed that the Finance Department has completed the list of employees who deserve the allowance according to the rationalization plan of the State. In spite of the objection from many sides, Al-Manfouhi stressed he is keen on suspending the payment of allowances to senior officials of the Municipality as part of the austerity measures, the source added
