UAE- Drug overdose killed Georgian tourist

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Georgian woman who was found dead on a road near the Dubai Courts on Thursday died as a result of drug overdose the police have said. The woman was found dead behind a bus stop facing the buildings which house Dubai Courts and Public Prosecution and Rashid Hospital.

She was found in her undergarments along with another woman a 22-year-old lying next to her who was conscious but seemed to be in an abnormal condition and under the influence of narcotics. Police officials and prosecutors were unable to communicate with the woman who speaks only Georgian. A translator was brought in to help investigate the circumstances.

Investigations revealed that the deceased and her friend had gone with two Arab nationals who had been jailed many times for drug use. The police have launched a manhunt to arrest them.

According to police sources the 22-year-old friend of the deceased told the police that they went with the two men and consumed drugs. She said that the victim's health deteriorated as result of drug overdose and all of them tried to revive her. But seeing no change in her health condition they took her to their car and placed her on the road near the Rashid Hospital assuming that some one may see her and then take her to the hospital. Her friend told the police that she was under the influence of drugs and could not do anything .

The police are now gathering evidence and leads about the circumstances of her death. The police have already identified the Arab men and set a trap to arrest them.

The Operations Room of the Dubai Police received an information about the body early morning on Thursday. The police noted that she had a small wound and a bruise on her forehead leading them to assume that she either fell down or was struck. The police ruled out occurrence of rape or murder and confirmed that she died because of drug overdose. The body will be handed over to her friends after completion of legal and administrative procedures.

A friend close to the family members of the deceased E. Aytuglu who is based in Turkey told Khaleej Times over phone that they are in big shock. She said that the victim identified as Nimo used to visit Dubai often. She had been to Georgia to see her daughter recently and returned to Dubai just before 10 days. She said that the family planned to repatriate the body on Monday.
