Doha: Hovering just above the QSL relegation zone Al Kharaitiyat will look forward to produce an impressive performance against fifth -placed Umm Salal when the two sides clash in the final round of the 2015-16 Qatar Stars League (QSL) campaign.

The two sides will meet at Al Khor Stadium this afternoon and a loss for Al Kharaitiyat may allow Qatar SC to claw out of the relegation zone providing they can win against Al Wakrah to avoid the relegation and send Amar Osim’s boys to the Qatar Gas League.

Two losses and three draws against just one win in the last six QSL games have clearly hurt Osim’s aspirations in the last few weeks of QSL this season. However a 3-0 win against Al Wakrah last week would have delighted Al Kharaitiyat fans as Hassan Abdul Fateh scored two goals in what was only the seventh win for Osim’s team this season.

But Al Kharaitiyat have been struggling to enjoy victories especially in 2016. They have only registered one prior to the Al Wakrah result way back in February a 3-0 score line against bottom-placed Mesaimeer.

Osim’s boys however will draw confidence from the fact that they beat Umm Salal in their first leg in December when Al Kharaitiyat beat Umm Salal 3-0 back in December. A brace from Yahia Kebe and striker Hassan Abdel Fateh was enough to down the Orange Fortress and Amir Osim will want a similar performance from his striking duo.

For Umm Salal coached by Bulent Uygun a win against Al Kharaitiyat today could produce their 10th victory of the season although it is below their expectations. Uygun’s team will be ruing the fact they have shared points in 11 matches this season against just five losses with two of those coming in the last four weeks effectively halting their quest for a Qatar Cup place.

Umm Salal’s faint top 4 aspirations where ended when they went down 2-1 to El Jaish in a feisty contest last week when Abdulrazzaq Hamadallah fired in two penalties to seal the win.

With a top-four finish out of their grasp even if fifth-placed Umm Salal win and fourth-placed Lekhwiya lose Uygun’s boys will know a victory today would prepare the side well ahead of the start of the Emir Cup later this month.

Uygun will be hoping Mounir El Hamdaoui continues with his goal-scoring form of the last two matches as Umm Salal seek a winning end to their season that could have landed them a top-four finish in QSL.

It promises to be a engrossing game when relegation threatened Al Kharitiyat take on high-flying Umm Salal today at Al Khor stadium with kick-off set for 18:15.

Al Wakrah take on Qatar SC in a do or die match for the Kings at the Al Wakrah Stadium today.

Al Wakrah are 11th in the table with 29 points from twenty-five games. They still could be relegated if they lose by five goals to Qatar SC. Qatar SC need to win and hope rivals Al Kharaitiyat drop points in their match against Umm Salal to harbour any chance to beat the drop to the Qatar Gas League.

Mauricio Larriera the head coach of Al Wakrah believes that there is no chance of Al Wakrah losing by five goals “I don’t think there is a chance for my team to go down. It’s is impossible.”

Despite losing to Kharaitiyat by three goals last week the Uruguayan tactician believes that it’s all under control “Our faith is in our hands and we need to fight to defend our chance of survival. There is a very slim chance for our team to go down as there is a very small probability of losing 5-0.”

Qatar Sports Club have improved significantly since January and they are in dire need of the three points if they are to stay in the QSL. Sebastiao Lazaroni’s men are only one point behind Al Kharaitiyat and they will need all the luck in order to survive.

Sebastiao Lazaroni the head coach of Qatar SC is demanding it all from his team in this final match of the league “This is the final Game that’s it in sports sometimes you have good moment and sometimes bad moments but it’s important that you prepare yourself to be the best. In this moment you need to prepare and have the confidence to do the best you can.”

Al Wakrah are also in the mix of the relegation battle as they might go down if they lose by five goals.

“It depends on us to remain in the first division. We need to score 5 goals for a straight rout there is one percent chance of that happening but it’s still a chance” added the 65-year- old tactician. The result of Al Kharaitiyat’s match against Umm Salal will have a big impact on Qatar SC.

And Lazaroni is not concerned about the result of that game “We don’t care about the result of Kharaitiyath. All we care about is our match against Wakrah. All we need is a professional attitude and the result is important but only in the end of our match.”
