Al Habtoor receives Chairman of Lloyd's of London


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Chairman, Al Habtoor Group welcomed John Frederick Nelson, Chairman, Lloyd's of London at his office on Al Wasl Road today. Lloyd's of London set up a regional office headquartered in Dubai in 2015.

Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor said he was delighted to hear that Lloyd's had a presence in the city. "Lloyd's of London is oldest and best known name in the insurance world. Having a regional office here reinforces the importance of Dubai to the wider region."

Lloyd's Dubai office, based at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), provides Lloyd's an underwriting base in the Middle East and North Africa region. The office occupies two floors of the DIFC.

Nelson is in Dubai to mark the first anniversary of the Dubai office. He was accompanied by Cameron Murray, Head of Middle East & Africa, Lloyd's of London and Mark Cooper, General Representative Middle East.

Chairman Al Habtoor said his visit proves Lloyd's is committed to further expand in the MENA region.

"The UAE is a safe haven destination. We are well placed geographically, have transparent markets and operate international best practices. Dubai is the perfect breeding ground for businesses to flourish."

Nelson become the 61st Chairman of Lloyd's, the world's specialist market for insurance and reinsurance, in October 2011 following the retirement of his predecessor Lord Peter Levene who held the post for more than a decade.
