S. Korea records 10pct fall in car exports over Q1


(MENAFN) Amid declining demand from emerging markets, South Korea's exports of vehicles dropped 10.8 percent through the first three months from a year earlier.

In particular, South Korean automakers shipped 654,494 units of vehicles abroad over the January-March timeframe, as opposed to 733,759 units reported a year earlier.

Of the amount, commercial vehicles totaled 28,350 units, and GM Korea's Trax crossover stood as the top player at 61,466 units, trailed by Hyundai's Avante compact with 55,400 units.

Additionally, KIA's Pride subcompact held a comparable figure of 55,106 units, followed by Hyundai's subcompact Accent with 49,375 units and Tucson with 45,093 units.
