Doha: Al Wakrah’s midfielder Mouhcine Moutouali is expecting a tough clash against relegation-threatened Qatar SC in their last Qatar Stars League (QSL) match of the season this weekend.

In an interview with the QSL online the tricky Moroccan player said his team will have to work hard to beat their opponents on Friday.

“It will be very difficult game Qatar SC will enter this match with no other alternative but to win to survive in the league while we are seeking to compensate our recent loss to Al Kharaitiyat” said the seasoned Al Wakrah footballer.

But Moutouali felt that his team has good chances of overcoming their lower-ranked opponents.

“Of course Al Wakrah should win” said the Moroccan when asked about to pick the favourite side for the match to be played at the Al Wakrah Stadium.

“Although we lost last time. We intend to cover from the previous defeat. Also Qatar are nervous to win by many goals this will play in our favour.”

Speaking about the defeat to Al Kharaitiyat Moutouali said: “No one expected that heavy loss especially after our well-deserved win over Lekhwiya.”

“We lost a key midfielder in Rubin Amorim in the first half and we also made bad mistakes at the back. We will be looking to readdress this in our game against Qatar SC” he added.

Moutouali said complacency was not the reason behind the upset defeat. “We did not relax but most of our key players didn’t perform well as they used to. This happens in football. The most important thing is to have learned our lesson and not to commit the same mistakes again against Qatar.

He said his team will have to give the best against Qatar SC to avoid any late drama in the league.

“According to figures Al Wakrah is still at risk. Qatar SC needs to score five goals against us and for results to go against us. For us as a team we are only looking at a win.”

He said his team also has the Emir Cup in sights.

“First I wish to settle this relegation matter by defeating Qatar SC after which we will be focusing on the Emir Cup competition.”The Peninsula
