EU funds 50 pioneering SMEs

(MENAFN) The European Commission declared that it had selected 50 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from 14 nations for the latest round of grant funding from Horizon 2020.

Schemes run by these firms would each receive up to USD2.85 million to bring their newly-designed products to the market, and Horizon 2020 is the framework program for research and innovation.

Additionally, amongst the projects getting funding are a cost-effective system of solar panel roof tiles and an innovative next-generation Push-to-Talk communication device for public security.

Furthermore, with this newest round of funding, the SME instrument has benefited a total of 406 SMEs pursuing to bring their merchandises to market since its launch in January-2014.
