Qatar- Al Sadd's Hassan rues 'missed chances'

Doha: While Al Rayyan’s coach Jorge Fossati was satisfied with a 2-2 draw against Al Sadd in the Qatari ‘Clasico’ Al Sadd’s Abdelkarim Hassan expressed his discontent over the stalemate ruing missed chances against the Qatar Stars League (QSL) champions on Saturday.

Al Sadd fought back after conceding double to earn a point against Fossati’s team.

The Qatari international defender Hassan shared his views on his side’s momentous comeback in the big match as the Wolves grabbed two goals in the final two minutes to share the spoils with the Al Rayyan.

“Personally I am not happy with the result” said the Qatari player.

“I had two good chances to score in the second half and missed” added the 22-year-old defender.

Speaking about the tense encounter Hassan revealed they were shocked how Al Rayyan came out in the second half scoring within ten minutes of the restart.

“Al Rayyan took us by surprise but we fought back well to get into the tie. The red card for Victor Caseres helped us more.”

Hassan also had some words on Mohammed Kasola who had received some criticism on social media ahead of the crunch clash.

“Before the game many people had things to say about Mohammed Kasola but he proved them wrong with his goal tonight. I am proud of the goal he scored and he helped us get back into the game” he said.

Al Sadd will now begin preparations for their final game of the QSL season when they take on El Jaish on Friday at Qatar SC stadium in now what will be a straight shoot-out for the second place in the QSL standings.

Meanwhile Lekhwiya’s Spanish defender Chico Flores is set to be out of action for at least 10 days the club has announced.

Lekhwiya’s official website made the announcement on Sunday prior to the Red Knights shock 5-4 defeat to Al Ahli.

The former Swansea defender under went surgery at Al Emadi Hospital on Sunday and is expected to miss Lekhwiya’ s last QSL game of the season against Meisameer along with a crunch AFC Champions League tie against FC Bunyodkor in Tashkent.

Lekhwiya have all but secured their qualification in the Qatar Cup competition and will be hoping the experienced defender will be available for their semi-final match on Sunday.The Peninsula
