DOHA: Qatar Stars League (QSL) champions Al Rayyan on Sunday managed a sluggish 2-2 draw against arch-rivals Al Sadd but Jorge Fossati - usually a hard person to please - is not complaining one bit.

On Sunday Al Sadd rallied for the 2-2 draw after Al Rayyan were leading 2-0 by the 71st minute.

Goals in the final two minutes of the tie from Hassan Haydoos and Qatari international defender Mohammed Kasola saved the points for Jesualdo Ferriera’s side on Sunday.

Sergio Garcia scored the two goals for Al Rayyan (55 and 71).

“The game especially the first half was tough” Fossati said after the clash traditionally played as Clasico’.

“The second half was different to the first. We got plenty of opportunities to score and we scored two goals from those chances” Fossati said.

“We could have killed the game with third goal but we suffered lapses in the defence” the Uruguayan said.

“We suffered in the absence of Vieira Tahir Zakariya and Younis Jacob. And then we saw Hamid Ismail Abdul Hamid and (Victor Javier) Caceres being penalised in the game” he said.

“We always play with the desire of winning. Ultimately I am satisfied with the performance considering our circumstances” he said.

“As of now I am looking at performances and not the results. The team gave a strong performance” Fossati said. “I do not want to go into the reasons of us not winning” he said.

“Here I would like to say my backroom staff team has done a great job to prepare the side for such matches. They have done really well in the past two days” Fossati said.

Al Rayyan last month clinched the QSL title with five rounds to spare after winning 20 of the first 21 matches of the season. At the time of winning their 8th national title Al Rayyan had only lost to Al Sadd in December. The Peninsula
