Arab Parliamentary Union hails Qatar's efforts to bring Darfur peace

Doha: The heads of Arab parliaments has praised Qatar’s constructive efforts which culminated in Doha Document for Peace in Darfur expressed satisfaction over the signature of the document and called on all parties to work hand in hand for its implementation to lay a solid foundation for security stability and development.

This came in the final statement at the end of its 23rd meeting of the Arab Parliamentary Union in Egyptian capital Cairo yesterday. Advisory Council Speaker Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khulaifi led Qatar’s delegation to the meeting. The statement called on heads of the parliaments to urge their governments to provide financial and moral support to enforce the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur and launch development programmes expressing appreciation for all efforts made by the joint mediation of the United Nations the African Union the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to bring about peace in Sudan. The APU also reiterated in the final statement that the Palestinian issue is the Arab nation’s primary cause and demanded that all resolutions issued by its previous conferences and meetings be implemented.

On Yemen the conference valued highly UN efforts to resolve the Yemeni crisis peacefully in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations praising the efforts of the State of Kuwait and its current diplomatic efforts to put an end to the conflict and realize stability in Yemen.QNA
