ITM Power PLC joins forces with BOC to roll out refuelling stations

(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors - N.America) ITM Power PLC (LON:ITM) is joining forces industrial gases giant BOC to provide the infrastructure for ITM's new electrolyser-based hydrogen refuelling stations for passenger cars.

BOC now part of the German giant Linde will source and install forecourt technology such as hydrogen compressors and dispensers.

ITM's plan is to become the 'dominant' hydrogen fuel supplier in the UK.

It has the funding for eight refuelling stations in and around London having already opened one in Rotherham.

BOC also has some experience in the sector.

It developed a station at Honda's site in Swindon and it runs a hydrogen production and bus refuelling operation in Aberdeen.

The latter uses Linde's IC-90 ionic compressors which has proved a hugely reliable method of dispensing the gas.

'It is this established technology and knowledge that is going to be delivered to the ITM Power refuelling stations' said ITM pointing the Linde system is now used in over 100 hydrogen refuelling stations around the world.

Dr Hamish Nichol Innovation Manager for Hydrogen at BOC added: 'The success of BOC's refuelling station in Aberdeen will ensure that together with ITM Power we are able to make hydrogen a reliable and accessible clean fuel for future mobility."

This siting and refuelling agreement builds on the "existing successful partnership between the two companies".

"Onsite integrated hydrogen refuelling solutions utilising the leading edge technology of ITM Power and BOC is a world class offering" said ITM chief executiveDr Graham Cooley.
