A Zayed University Alumna underscores an inspiring story of success


(MENAFNEditorial) Alya's work focuses on preserving the UAE media identity by establishing a national media museum Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates- April 11, 2016: Alya Alyassi, a successful young Emirati woman and Zayed University Alumna, returns back to teach at Zayed University with sincere love and unconditional loyalty to her home, which she graduated from with a Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Communication and Media Sciences. Affirming Zayed University's keenness to empower young national competencies and encourage them to delve into academic work and scientific research, the university has invested in Alya to teach her book, which highlights the UAE media history, to undergraduates. 'Media Identity', the title of Alya's book, aims at fostering the UAE's national identity and social cohesion in order to groom a generation that takes pride in Emirati culture and works hard to preserve it. Alya, the author of the book, aimed at saving the national media identity and raising awareness about unprecedented improvements experienced by the media in the UAE. "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has acquired copies of my book and distributed them to several embassies within the country as well as diplomatic missions abroad. The 'Media Identity' Book was also distributed to various libraries in European countries," Alya said. The author also pointed out that she has gathered information and facts from media pioneers and inspiring journalists in the UAE. "I have also conducted several field trips to various media institutions in the country and relied on research information," she said. Furthermore, Alya's thesis introduced a new vital idea that can enhance the dissemination of educational, historical, and cultural messages to younger generations of UAE citizens. The establishment of a national media museum that documents the history of UAE media since its inception until the present time. "The idea of establishing a national media museum came to follow up the history of media in the UAE and its rapid developments at all levels. The museum can serve as an essential reference to all those who are interested in the details of UAE local media including, residents, tourists and readers at large," Alya said. Additionally, Alya's thesis highlighted the successful experience of the National Media Museum, which is situated in the heart of Bradford, UNESCO City of Film, the best museum in the world for inspiring people to learn about, engage with and create media. Alya, who works currently as Director of Communication in the Ministry of Energy, was among the first employees, who joined the first batch undertaking the one-year diploma in government innovation, which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The diploma came in line with the government's approach to develop a generation of innovative executives in government bodies to ensure the sustainability of UAE's successes in a world of rapid change and developments as well as massive opportunities that require the presence of specialized government leaders, who can lead the UAE in the innovation sector. "It is important to express my gratitude to Zayed University.
