BERLIN April 11 (KUNA) -- Berlin Museum Island of five heritage sites each constituting a museum dating back to 6000 years ago is a major tourist attraction.
Located on River Spree it encompasses five ancient museums and galleries all enlisted by the UNESCO as among World Heritage Sites depicting man's old civilizations except for one which showcases modern-history relics.
Berlin authorities intending to render the antiquities-rich site easily accessible decided to renovate it and erect passagways in 2015.
The circle-shaped old musuem is number-one in Europe. The new museum is most attractive one among the five for it displays the bust of Nefertiti which Egypt is seeking to retake.
The old museum houses many paintings by Caspar David Friedrich a 19th-century German Romantic landscape painter. It also houses Bode Museum with treasures dating back to various eras and the 2000-year-old Pergamon Museum. (end) anj.rk
