(MENAFN- Arab Times) Three-time World Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo has issued a rallying call to Real Madrid's fans as they aim to overturn a 2-0 first leg deficit against Wolfsburg in their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.
Goals from Ricardo Rodriguez and Maximilian Arnold have left Madrid with a mountain to climb to reach the semi-finals for a fifth consecutive season.
However, Ronaldo remains confident Real's free-scoring home form this season will ensure they overturn a first leg defeat in the Champions League for the first time since 2002.
"The team are confident, the coach has faith and the fans must also have faith. Tuesday has to be a magical night," he told the club's website.
"It is also important to remain calm in certain situations, we need patience and to know how to suffer for the win.
"The key objective is getting through to the next round. It is the only option that will allow us players and the fans to leave the stadium happy."
Ronaldo was on target in a 4-0 rout of Eibar on Saturday as Real scored at least four goals for the seventh time in nine home games since coach Zinedine Zidane took charge in January.
All four goals arrived before half-time against the Basque minnows and German midfielder Toni Kroos insisted the hosts need an early goal to put his more inexperienced compatriots on the backfoot.
"It will be important to get the upper hand early on," said Kroos.
"We don't want it to still be 0-0 at half time. We have to play attacking football, without doubt, but we have to play wisely."
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini expects Sergio Aguero to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League despite going off injured in Saturday's 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion.
Aguero netted a 19th-minute penalty to cancel out Stephane Sessegnon's opener for West Brom, but was caught on the back of the heel by Craig Gardner in the closing stages and had to hobble off.
City face PSG in the home leg of their quarter-final on Tuesday, after a 2-2 draw in the first leg, but Pellegrini said that he had no concerns about Aguero's fitness.
"Kun (Aguero) had just a kick," he told reporters at the Etihad Stadium. "It's not a problem for Tuesday."
City's victory took them to within two points of third-place Arsenal in the Premier League, although they are 12 points below leaders Leicester City.
