UAE- Emirati teacher on trial over alleged abusive messages


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) An Emirati teacher was charged in court on Sunday for allegedly sending messages of abusive content to her uncle.

The 53-year-old woman allegedly sent messages to her uncle on WhatsApp calling him names and accusing him of forgery and misappropriation of property that is not his own.

She has been charged in the Court of First Instance with insulting and cursing (her uncle) committing an act that would incite hate harassment and abusing of telecommunication services.

She allegedly sent the messages from November 26 last year to January 10. The complaint was filed at Rashidiyah police station.

The complainant a 60-year-old Emirati retired employee said that his niece (the daughter of his sister) sent him several disrespectful messages on WhatsApp.

In one of her messages she allegedly said that she would not care even if she went to jail for defending the right.

When brought to questioning she reportedly admitted that she sent the messages with the hateful and abusive content.

Copies of the messages have been enclosed to the case file by the public prosecution.

A verdict will be pronounced on April 27.
