Man in dock for trying to film woman in short skirt

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A man stood trial in the Court of First Instance on Sunday on charges of attempted molestation for filming a woman in short skirts.

The suspect a 57-year-old Briton denied the charge in the Court of First Instance.

According to court records the defendant I.A. allegedly tried to film the woman inside a supermarket as he was standing behind her in a queue at the cash counter.

He pretended to drop a cigarette packet and bent to pick it up while holding his phone on camera mode. But the woman spotted him and made a scene.

The incident was reported to Al Barsha Police on January 5. The woman's' friend a 29-year-old British marketing manager said that they were standing near the cashier when she suddenly grabbed his shirt.

"She was screaming and wanted me to stop a man from leaving the supermarket. She said that he filmed her."

The witness added that he asked the man (I.A.) to open the video and photo gallery.

"I saw that he had shot the false ceilings of the supermarket. It means that he tried to film her bare legs but could not."

I.A. raised his suspicions even more when he suddenly deleted the clip. "I asked the security guards to let me check the surveillance cameras while I stopped him from leaving" the woman's friend said. I.A. was caught on camera dropping a cigarette packet. Besides he tried to escape when she exposed him. Her friend blocked his way and called the police.

Meanwhile a police sergeant quoted the accused as admitting to have tried to film the woman's legs. The supermarket surveillance relevant footage was seized and used by the prosecution as evidence.

The hearing has been adjourned to April 27.
