Qatar- RAF plans 560 development projects in 39 countries

DOHA: Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) plans to implement 560 development projects worth QR112m for needy people in 39 countries in Asia Africa and Europe this year.

The projects as proposals are being taken to the philanthropists in Qatar for finance. The initiative entitled “Muzn” (cloud) was launched recently. A printed guidebook listing details about proposed projects released in the launch ceremony.

The proposed projects were prepared by RAF in collaboration with its offices and local partners in the beneficiary countries said Ali bin Yusuf Al Kuwari Head of the Finance Resources Development and Marketing Manager at RAF.

A feasibility study was conducted to list most deserving people in fragile areas facing humanitarian crises and basic needs he added. The list was made based on the population of beneficiary countries social status of the people and their educational level. The projects were designed on humanitarian ground focusing on social care education construction and religious programs.

As per the proposal 254 projects at a cost of QR61.2m will be implemented in Asian countries. The projects include nine surface-water-wells 37 social projects 16 for relief 58 homes for poor people 20 for supporting education 31 related to religious calling 53 medical five centres for Holy Quran recitation and memorisation and 64 mosques.

The highest number of projects was proposed to execute in African countries at 270 at the cost of QR34.5m. They are related to provide drinking water social services religious relief education orphan homes medical facilities and mosques among others.

At least 36 projects are in the proposed list to implement in European countries at a cost of QR5.9m. They are about social relief education development religious and medical.

People from eighteen African countries will benefit from the projects including Burundi Burkina Faso Benin Djibouti Ethiopia Ghana Zambia Kenya Comoros Morocco Mali Egypt Mauritania Malawi Niger Sudan Senegal and Somalia.

Fifteen countries are listed in Asia to receive the projects. They are Indonesia Iraq India Palestine Jordan Kyrgyzstan Kazakhstan Maldives Lebanon Syria Sri Lanka the Philippines Yemen Tajikistan and Thailand.

Six countries in Europe will benefit from the projects. They are Albania Bosnia and Herzegovina Ukraine Turkey Macedonia and Kosovo.The Peninsula
