Morocco s House of Representatives Adopts Draft Law on Regency Council


(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Morocco’s house of representatives unanimously adopted on Friday during a plenary session the organic draft law no 90.15 on the regency council.

Presenting the draft bill government secretary general Driss Dahak said that it is part of law-making initiatives to implement constitutional provisions mainly in relation to organic laws.

The bill sets a series of provisions laying the framework for the regency council to ensure the continuity of the State and that of the governance system according to specific constitutional mechanisms until the King comes of age (18 years) and during the two following years (20 years) he said.

Dahak said the fact that the constitution is upholding this institutional mechanism which is the regency council is a guarantee of preserving constitutional rules organizing the monarchical institution which represents one of the foundations of the Moroccan constitutional system along with the Muslim religion territorial integrity democratic choice and rights and liberties.

Dahak commended on this occasion the unanimity by members of the justice law-making and human rights committee majority and opposition concerning the said draft law.
