Israel demolishes Palestinians' houses near Hebron

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RAMALLAH April 6 (KUNA) -- Israeli military forces demolished six Palestinians' houses in Kherbet Umm Alkhair south of the West Bank town of Hebron early on Wednesday a Palestinian official said.

Some 40 troops burst into the Palestinian residential area and forced 35 of the inhabitants out of their homes said Younes Arrar in charge of settlement affairs in the Palestinian authority.

The forces brought down the tin-roofed houses despite a plea that had been addressed by the locals to an Israeli court.

"The occupation forces are seeking to drive the Palestinians out of the region for controlling it" he said indicating that the Palestinian authority was holding contacts with relevant authorities to try secure shelter for these homeless Palestinians.

Israeli Knesset endorsed a bill called "the law of absent landlords" in 1950 according to which Israel gave itself the right to expropriate Palestinian lands and properties. (end) nq.rk
