GCC Olympic meeting discusses establishing sport arbitration center

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH April 4 (KUNA) -- Heads of GCC Olympic committees discussed Monday establishing a sport arbitration center similar yet not linked to the Lausanne-based Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
In remarks to reporters after the conclusion of the 30th GCC meeting of sport ministers and Olympic committee heads Director General of Youth Welfare and head of the Saudi Olympic committee Prince Abdullah Bin Musaaed said the meeting also approved holding a sport day in the first week of February each year as well as endorsing holding the first youth tournament in the UAE in September 2016 and holding the third sport games tourney in Kuwait in 2019.
On his part GCC Secretary General Abdulatif Al-Zayani emphasized keenness of GCC leaders on sport as a strategic factor in human development; nurturing and reinvigorating body and mind.
The meeting was attended by chairman of the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee Sheikh Talal Al-Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. (end) od.hb
