Chesapeake faces class action over "securities violations"

(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors)Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NYSE:CHK) faces a class action litigation after shareholder rights law firm Robbins Arroyo LLP announced on Monday it had filed a complaint in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. The plaintiff brings the complaint on behalf of all shareholders who beneficially held oil group Chesapeake's 6.875% senior notes due 2020 and 6.125% senior notes due 2021 ("Class Notes") from December 31 2015 to the present for alleged violations of the Securities Act of 1933 by Chesapeake Energy's officers and directors. Last month Chesapeake Energy founder and former chief executive Aubrey McClendon died in a single-car crash - a day after he was charged with conspiring to rig bids for oil and natural gas leases. At that time Chesapeake said that it did not expect to face criminal prosecution or fines related to McClendon's charges from the Department of Justice. Chesapeake shares were down 3.12% at $3.72 on Monday.
