Morocco- Zagora Hosts English Language Study Day for Teachers


(MENAFN- Morocco World News) ;">The Basma Association of English Language in Zagora (BAELZ) organized on March31 2016 a study day for English teachers and students at Elmajd High School in Zagora. The study day program was carried out in two sessions.

The morning session aimed at the enhancement support and promotion of teachers' continuous formation research and awareness of the paramount importance of the use of ICT and enhanced online learning in teaching in general and English in particular.

The program was kicked off by warm welcomes and words given by the President of BAELZ along with Brahim Oujil the delegate of the Ministry of Education Moulay Abdelaziz Rachidi the headmaster of Elmajd High School the delegate of the Local Provincial Council Rachel Okunubi the US Consulate Deputy Public Affairs Officer and Amina Jaouad the director of the Information Resource Centre at Dar America.

The first two presentations were delivered by Rachel Okunubi and Amina Jaouad respectively titled 'MOOCs for Morocco' and 'eLibraryUSA: getting to know the collection.' Okunubi's presentation walked the audience through the rich free 'Massive Open Online Courses' a database that offers many free books on different subjects as well as academic articles and magazines and teaching materials.

Similarly Amina Jaouad talked about another rich online database eLibraryUSA and the vast teaching and academic materials.

The evening session targeted students. About forty-five students came to the event. Rachel Okunubi conducted fun activities and games that aimed to motivate students to use their English language potential. The activities and games proved very successful in making all students take part and become more interested in learning English. As a wrap up the students were given the chance to showcase their talents in public speaking and singing. Their productions were wonderful and innovative.

The study day was held in accordance with the objectives of the association and the Ministry of Education concerning the promotion and improvement of the teaching learning and the use of English as a world language. Generally speaking everything was successful and fantastic.
