Oman- Bangladesh's Regent Airways to launch Muscat operations from Friday

Regent Airways an airlines from Bangladesh will operate its inaugural flight from Muscat on April 8.

The Muscat-Chittagong-Dhaka service is expected to cater to thousands of Bangladeshi immigrants as well as Omanis.

The airlines currently operates from an office near the ONTC bus stand in Ruwi. Tickets can also be booked online. The airline is offering an attractive inaugural fare with a luggage capacity of 45kg. The one-way fare on the Muscat-Chittagong-Dhaka is RO60 while the return fare is RO135. The one-way and return fares on the Muscat-Dhaka route are RO50 and RO130 respectively.

Speaking exclusively to Muscat Daily Mashruf Habib the airline's managing director said 'This is our very first venture in the Gulf and fifth around the world after Singapore Kuala Lumpur Bangkok and Kolkata. We studied the Oman market well. We didn't target Dubai because we found the Oman market more lucrative as the population (of Bangladeshis) continues to rise. We are also offering a promotional fare that will be available both for purchase and travel until June 15.'

He added that there are plans to have inbound packages medical tourism and shopping festivals. 'The second and third cities in the Gulf to have Regent Airways will be Doha and Jeddah respectively - by year-end' he said. Regent Airways is not a budget airline and will provide full meals and entertainment included in the fare. There will be four flights a week - on Mondays Tuesdays Fridays and Saturdays.

Mamunur Rashid Rumee a Bangladeshi expat in Muscat said 'We are happy to have a new airline option. Regent Airways is economical and also connects to Chittagong. There are a large number of expats hailing from this city. I am happy that one airline caters to both Chittagong and Dhaka.'
