Yemeni Pres. appoints new VP, PM


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH April 3 (KUNA) -- Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi appointed Lieutenant General Ali Mohsen Al-Ahmar as new vice-president and Ahmad bin Dagher as the Prime Minister both replacing Khaled Bahah's two posts.

According to Yemen news agency (Saba) the new Vice President Al-Ahmar was previously a military commander that defected previous ruler Ali Abdullah Saleh in 2011 following the protests that took place in the country which led to his resignation.

Bin Dagher the new Prime Minister was a high ranking official from the Popular Conference party during Saleh tenure before defecting to Hadi camp.

The reshuffle comes days before an upcoming Yemeni Dialogue Conference scheduled to be hosted in Kuwait on April 18th. (end) od.mb
