Jordan- Training religious leaders on dialogue coexistence on social media


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman April 2 (Petra) A regional training program for religious leaders from across the Middle East is scheduled to start Sunday under the theme "Social Media as a Space for Dialogue".

Organized by the Vienna-based King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Center for Interreligious and intercultural Dialogue (Kaiciid) the meeting will gather some 60 religious trainees from Lebanon Palestine Syria as well as Jordan.

The three-day program will focus on the use of social media to promote respectful dialogue and peaceful coexistence among followers of different religions.

The meeting also aims to provide young religious leaders with tools to reach out to their peers encourage open discussions on peaceful coexistence and social cohesion.

Participants to the meeting will be encouraged to implement social media initiatives and campaigns in their own communities and institutions to promote the values of moderation and peaceful coexistence. They will be also encouraged to become trainers so they can have a broader impact in their communities.

More trainings will also be held over the course of this year in Egypt IraqTunisia and the United Arab Emirates .

In November 2014 the center launched an initiative to mobilize religious leaders from across the Middle East to respond to the threat of extremism engulfing the region.

KAICIID is an intergovernmental organization that promotes dialogue to build peace in conflict areas. It enhances understanding and cooperation between people of different cultures and followers of different religions.

The center was founded by Austria Saudi Arabia and Spain and its Board of Directors comprises representatives from five major world religions (Buddhism Christianity Hinduism Islam and Judaism).
