Tunisia tourism income drops by 54 percent


(MENAFN) Tunisia proclaimed its tourism revenue in first two months of this year dropped by 54 percent to USD 90.21mn compared with 2015.

Furthermore, the decline trails two main attacks by Islamist milinats last year that aimed the industry and killed dozens of foreigners.

In addition, the tourism income in 2015 was a total drop by 35 percent to USD 1.15bn.

The country, which is important contributor to GDP, has been under a state of emergency, while tourism industry accounts for some 7 percent.
