Iran on right track to become number 1 gas exporter

(MENAFN) Iran has the capacity to become a leading natural gas exporter and a regional powerhouse, considering the fact it holds the world's largest proven gas reserves.

Upon the signing of the Iran nuclear agreement in July, now there is a strong chance for satisfying the nation's potential of becoming a key player in the global gas market.

However, Iran's gas reserves have remained untapped as Western sanctions have impeded and blocked the appropriate development of the nation's gas infrastructure.

Iran presently exports electricity to Turkey, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq, plus it delivers technical and engineering services to 26 countries.
