CHICAGO Jumada II 21 1437 March 30 2016 SPA -- A producer of anti-violence ads says the shooting of a Chicago seventh-grader who appeared in one underscores how gun violence is all too common in big-city neighborhoods according to AP.
Burrell Communications Vice President Lisa McConnell said Tuesday the shooting of 13-year-old Zarriel Trotter was something that almost could be expected in the boy's neighborhood of Austin on Chicago's West Side.
In the ad Zarriel says he doesn't want to live in a neighborhood where he keeps hearing about people being shot.
Police say Zarriel was hit in the back by a stray bullet outside his home Friday night while two groups were fighting down the street.
The boy was in critical condition Saturday at Mount Sinai Hospital. The hospital declined to provide an update on his condition Tuesday on his family's instructions.
