In a statement issued on Tuesday Ismail bin Abdullah al Balushi cultural attache at the Oman's Embassy in Amman said 'The incident was first discussed on several social networking sites. We sent a team to meet the student and know what exactly had happened. He is fine now.'

He said that the embassy is looking into the matter and following up with the legal procedures. 'The assailant has been referred for investigation.'
