Tokyo 28th March 2016 (WAM) - Applications for refugee status in Japan increased to 7580 applicants last year and just 27 people of them were granted asylum according to figures released by the Justice Ministry in Tokyo noting that some of them are Syrian nationals.

''The number of applicants has increased since reforming the Immigration Law in 2010 which allow asylum seekers to work in Japan once their applications have been under consideration for longer than six months'' the Ministry said.
