Great Britain grab major honours at 1st Qatar ITF Junior Open


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The winners of the first Qatar ITF Junior Open 2016 tournament pose for a photograph with officials at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex on Saturday.

Doha: The first Qatar ITF Junior Open 2016 was concluded at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex on Saturday.

The event featured the participation of players from 30 countries.

Joe Tyler of Great Britain claimed the title of Boys Singles Event after beating his compatriot Aidan Mchugh 6-2 6-4.

In Girls Event Megan Davies of Great Britain defeated the other British player Esther Adeshina 1-6 6-1 6-3.

The British duo of Joe Tyler and Will Davies won the title of Boys Doubles Event after beating Mohamed Abdel-Aziz of Egypt and Aidan Mchugh of Great Britain 6-2 4-6 [10-1].

In Girls Double Event Martina Biagianti of Italy partnered with DenisaHindova of Czech Republic to defeat the British duo of Esther Adeshina and Megan Davies 6-3 6-4 in the final match.

Tariq Zainal Assistant Secretary General of the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) crowned the winners.

Also present at the occasion were Sultan Khalfan Director of the Qatar ITF Junior Open 2016 tournament and Ihab Awad Assistant Director of the Tournament.

Tariq Zainal stressed that the tournament has achieved its goals and wished all the best for the Qatari players in the second edition of the tournament to begin today at Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex.The Peninsula
