UN Chief Tours Zaatari Refugee C

Amman Jumada II 18 1437 Mar 27 2016 SPA -- UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Sunday visited the Zaatari Refugee Camp as part of a regional tour for a first-hand look at the plight of Syrian refugees and to draw the world's attention to their humanitarian needs in the host communities.
During the tour of the camp this morning Ban emphasized that the U.N will continue helping the refugees in Jordan through various international and humanitarian organizations to mitigate their suffering pointing to the Kingdom's efforts in facing the ramifications of the Syrian crisis.
He said he would urge the global community to mobilize support to enable refugee host countries to carry out the required humanitarian role toward them adding that the current aid is not enough to meet the needs of the Syrian refugees in Jordan. His message to the refugees about the future was to return to their country through the ceaseless political effort to solve the crisis calling for the urgent need to expedite reaching an early solution.
For his part President of the World Bank Group Jim Yong Kim who accompanied the UN secretary general on the tour of Zaatari stressed further socioeconomic aid to Jordan's developmental schemes to improve services to its citizens in light of Jordan's internationally-recognized efforts.
The U.N chief toured the camp's facilities including schools and came face to face with the refugees who aired their suffering and voiced their hopes for a quick solution to the crisis in their country.
