World Transport Operator to Open Branch in Casablanca


(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Transdev a world leader in public transport opened a branch in Casablanca through its subsidiary Transamo Trans Assistance ownership.

According to Telquel the main objective of Transamo a French company that offers planning and guiding through public transportation projects will be to conduct studies and engineering work in addition to auditing and optimization operations and maintenance for the transport network.

Transdev operated the first 20-kilometer tramway network of Rabat-Sale in Morocco for a renewable contract of six years awarded in 2010 with operations starting in May 2011.

The company created about 300 job opportunities to manage the project.

Transdev is Morocco’s first light rail service. Until Veolia Transdev’s rebranding to Transdev in 2013 the Moroccan tramway was operated under the old Transdev name and logo.

After the pre-operational phases walk to white and recruitment and training of local staff the project team ensured the start of operations of Rabat-Sale Tramway.

According to their official website Transdev advises and assists local authorities from pre-project to daily operations of public transit systems to project management.

With 86000 employees in 20 countries the company operates 48000 vehicles and 23 light rail networks.

The number of passengers using tramway in Casablanca and Rabat has skyrocketed with a total of 21.812 million passengers have travelled aboard the Casablanca tramwayin one yearfrom its launch in 2012 to 2013.
