GCC Universities librarians discuss trends at Doha meeting

Doha: Around 40 librarians and other officials discussed trends in biometric database and library operations at the 18th Meeting of Library Officials from GCC universities educational institutions and research centres here recently.

QU Library officials and staff joined counterparts from Qatar National Library (QNL) and universities in KSA Bahrain Lebanon Kuwait UAE and Oman to discuss various topics such as biometric databases citation styles library operations and services and data research.

QU VP and Chief Academic Officer Dr Mazen Hasna and QU Library Director Dr Imad Bachir attended the meeting QU said Sunday.

The agenda included four sessions: New Trends in University Libraries conducted by Dr Bachir; The Arabic Appendix by Dr Fahad Al Askar and Mr Abdulrahman Al Moqbel from Islamic University of Mohammed Bin Suaad (KSA); Bibliometrics by Dr Luqman Mahou from American University of Beirut; and Supporting Research by Kludia Luks from QNL.
