Qatar- Healthy eating tips at food festival

Visitors enjoy fireworks display at Museum of Islamic Art Park.

DOHA: Visitors to the seventh Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) can get healthy eating tips from world renowned chef Alain Ducasse at Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park today.

Ducasse along with other prominent personalities will feature in the Healthy Food Show as part of a healthy food initiative introduced by H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani Chairperson Qatar Museums.

The show starts with French nutritionist Valerie Espinasse from 4pm to 4.35pm IDAM restaurant’s Frederic Larquemin and Chef Alain Ducasse from 6pm to 6.40pm and Qatari sports personality Nasser Al Attiya from 7.30pm 8pm.

Visitors to the Pearl-Qatar can witness demonstrations by Chef Vineet Bhatia of Indego Dubai from 4pm to 4.30pm Chef Paul Bentley of Magno Brasserie in Mexico and Chef Jesus Escalera of La Posteria in Mexico from 5.30pm to 6pm followed by Chef Tim Butler of Eat Me Restaurant in Thailand.

Doha Film Institute will screen Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs at 7.30pm. Katara Cultural Village will feature entertainment and live cooking sessions from 3pm to 9pm.

“The festival offers visitors experiences some of which are familiar from past years and others brand new” said Mashal Shahbik Director Festivals and Tourism Events.

“The expansion of the festival to Katara Cultural Village and the Pearl-Qatar this year presents more opportunities for residents and visitors to celebrate their common passion for food around Doha.

“Food has the unique ability to transcend individual cultures and we are sure that QIFF 2016 offers all visitors a diverse culinary and cultural experience” Shahbik said.

The festival has witnessed thousands of visitors at three locations since it opened on Tuesday. People come not only to sample specialities at some 130 food outlets but also witness spectacles including entertainment and fireworks display at MIA Park.
