Estonia tightens security measures at country's transport stations


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Estonia introduced enhanced security measures amid Brussels blasts.

Estonia introduced enhanced security measures at the country's transport stations including Tallinn's airport sea port and railway station following the deadly terror attacks in Brussels the Estonian Interior Ministry said in a statement Tuesday.

Earlier in the day multiple explosions hit the Belgian capital leaving at least 13 people killed and 35 injured.

"At the order of Interior Minister Hanno Pevkur enhanced security measures have been introduced in the airport and the sea port where the armed police rapid reaction force with sniffer dogs have been sent. The capital's railway and bus stations have been taken under increased security. The patrols in the central part of Tallinn have also been strengthened" the statement reads.

According to the statement the Estonian authorities are monitoring the developments in Belgium and are ready to take additional security measures.

Following the blasts security measures were stepped up in a number of European countries including Belgium France Poland and Spain among others.
