Russian FM calls for unity to face terrorism

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MOSCOW March 23 (KUNA) -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called Wednesday for unified efforts to face terrorism following the recent explosions that hit Brussels and claimed the lives of 34 people and injuring about 150 others.
This came during Lavrov's talks with German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier who is currently visiting Moscow discussing the terrorist threat facing the world.
On his part Steinmeier said the recent explosions in Brussels are a further evidence of the terrorist threat facing the world.
On Syria he said any future Syrian leadership should enjoy the majority support.
Steinmeier expressed his belief that Bashar Al-Assad can no longer be head of the Syrian regime especially after more than 250000 people lost their lives and some 12 million others displaced.
Russia's decision to withdraw part of its troops from Syria could give push to the negotiating process between Syrians parties in Geneva he noted. (end) as.ss
