Nintendo to pull the plug on Wii U console

(MENAFN) Nintendo, the Japanese giant is preparing to end production of its latest home console, according to a report from Japanese newspaper Nikkei.

This will basically put the agonizing system out of its misery as the gaming behemoth shifts from Wii U and the aging 3DS handheld to mobile games.

In particular, the struggling Wii U has tumbled far behind its Microsoft's Xbox and Sony's PlayStation competition in spite of having a one-year head start.

In a gaming industry worth USD99.3bn, the Japanese software company doesn't want to give up any more ground while putting money into a sinking platform.
