UAE- Sharjah Police confiscate 427 unregistered uninsured vehicles


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Sharjah police has confiscated 427vehiclesin the past three monthsafter owners failed to renew their license on expiry and did not have insurance.

According to Major Ibrahim Bayat head of the traffic and patrolling department said that many cars were driven by motorists who failed to renew their license and had no insurance.

"Driving a car whose license andregistrationhave not been renewed can pose danger to the safety and security of the road users as majority of those cars did not go through the technical check ups that determine whether the cars are fit to be driven or not.

He added that the Sharjah police has conducted various surprise inspections recently to ensure all licenses wererenewed."

He further warned that any motorist found flouting rules and driving a car with expired registration will be fined Dh400 fine while driving an uninsured carwill result inconfiscationof the vehicle forseven days in addition to a Dh200 fine.

"Motorists are urged to renew their cars license on time as that they are granted one month to drive the car after the expiry whichmeans motorists are given adequate time for renewal while ensuring the safety are safe and are not posing any danger to motorists and road users" he added.
