Qatar- QC opens second phase of model village in Indonesia

DOHA: Qatar Charity (QC) has opened the second phase of Al Nour model village in Indonesia at a cost of QR1.5m.

It includes a school with two floors 10 homes for teachers an accommodation for up to 70 students a hall for activities and lectures and a shop.

The first phase of the project was opened in 2010 and included 100 residential units a school a clinic and a mosque. The first phase cost over QR3.67m.

The opening ceremony was attended by government officials civil society institutions Qatari Ambassador Mohammad bin Khater Al Khater Mohammad Al Kaabi Manager Department of Relief QC and donors and sons of the deceased Mohammad Jassem Al Kawari.

Dr Cellica Nurrachadiana Mayoress of Karawang city where the village has been built thanked the donors and QC for the achievement and wished that their work continues.

Dr Ahmed Hadadi Deputy Head of West Jawa Province greeted the donors for selecting the most important areas needed practically by society.

“Knowledge establishes great nations and we are in need of knowledge learning and educational renaissance. We are thankful for every effort exerted and wish other institutions follow QC’s model in the selection of projects and their quality” he said.

Al Khater thanked the donor and Qatar and stressed the importance of continuing efforts to provide better services for a better future for the Indonesian society.

Iman Santos Chairman Board of Council of Al Nour said: “This day is one of the happiest in my life.”

The school teaches the students in the mornings and educates them in the evenings as they live inside the residential complex of the village.

Al Kaabi expressed pleasure over attending the opening of the complex and said the projects would be expanded to include schools dormitories mosques and clinics for all village residents and neighbours.
