Qatar Renews Full Support for Just Struggle of Palestinian People

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Geneva March 21 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has renewed its full solidarity with the just struggle of the Palestinian people and its support for international efforts aimed at finding a lasting and comprehensive solution in the Middle East which cannot be achieved except through the end of the Israeli occupation and the establishment of the State of Palestine with East Al Quds as its capital in accordance with relevant international legislations and Arab peace initiative.
This came in a speech delivered by HE Qatar's permanent representative to the United Nations and other organizations in Geneva Faisal bin Abdullah Al Henzab during an interactive dialogue here today with Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967 held as part of the ongoing 31st Human Rights Council.
HE Al Henzab said Israel's continued rejection to cooperate with the Special Rapporteur and not allowing him to enter the occupied Palestinian territories which led him to resign were open approaches pursued by Israel to cover up its war crimes against the Palestinian people.
He called on the President of the Human Rights Council to resist pressure and to select a new Special Rapporteur without delay expressing the State of Qatar's grave concern over what is stated in the report about the international community's inability to provide effective protection for the Palestinian people which is guaranteed under international humanitarian law and international human rights law but ignored by Israel which considers itself above the law and accountability.
HE Qatar's Permanent Representative strongly condemned continued Israeli's violations policy of collective punishment house demolitions land confiscation and illegal settlement activities which undermined the prospect for peace and a two-State solution.
The deteriorating human conditions in Gaza mentioned in the report are part of a bitter reality tragically experienced by the people in Gaza especially children and women HE Al Henzab said calling on the international community to take all necessary measures to end the blockade and support the reconstruction effort to avoid further deterioration.
