Qatar International Endocrinology forum held

DOHA: The First Qatar International Endocrinology Conference to discuss the latest treatment methods was held by Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Department of Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolism.

Endocrinology deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to hormones such as diabetes obesity dyslipidemia thyroid disorders hypertension and osteoporosis.

The conference is an important forum for sharing the latest knowledge on diverse aspects of endocrinology obesity osteoporosis and diabetes and is one of the most significant gatherings of healthcare professionals with an interest in endocrinology practice and research said Dr Mahmoud Ali Zirie Chief Endocrinology Section HMC and Chairman Conference Organising Committee.

“We were delighted to welcome delegates from all over the world including specialist physicians primary healthcare generalists and trainees.”

With a high incidence of obesity diabetes and related disorders in Qatar HMC has led the way in developing and improving access to high-quality specialised care for patients with these conditions particularly through its national diabetes centres at Hamad General Hospital and Al Wakra Hospital part of HMC’s network of hospitals recently accredited by Joint Commission International under the Academic Medical Center programme.

“The national diabetes centres offer a multidisciplinary approach to patient care and are an integral part of the Supreme Council of Health’s National Diabetes Strategy to connect healthcare providers in Qatar as part of efforts to further develop health services for diabetes patients” said Dr Ibrahim Treki Senior Consultant Adult Endocrinology and Internal Medicine HMC and Lead Clinician National Diabetes Centre Al Wakra Hospital which has significantly increased HMC’s capacity to provide specialised diabetes care to the population.

Dr Ibrahim Al Janahi Senior Consultant Endocrinology Section HMC said “The conference is designed to encourage discourse learning research and quality improvement. We hope it helped participants acquire new skills and information that will benefit their daily practice and develop valuable relationships and collaborations.”

Prominent local and international speakers shared knowledge and experiences during sessions on insulin therapy thyroid dyslipidemia and other topical issues.The Peninsula
