Germany hosted 1.14 million refugees in 2015

Berlin: Germany registered 2 million migrants in 2015 and 860000 of them have since moved on to other countries the Statistics Office said Monday.

As a result the migrant influx stood at 1.14 million in 2015. Destatis said is the highest annual number of migrants to arrive in

Germany since it started compiling the statistic German news agency DPA reported today.

The figure is based on conclusive numbers from the first eight months of the year and estimates for the final four. German authorities are struggling with the administrative logistics of the influx and some 400000 asylum requests are currently pending. The number of migrant registrations was 1.34 million for 2014. Some 766000 people moved on resulting in an influx of 577000 for that year.

The Statistics Office said this marked a 49 per cent year-on-year increase of new arrivals while the number of people who moved on to other countries only increased by 12 per cent year-on-year.
